A Little/Big Announcement & His Royal Cuteness, Jack

Apologies for the lag time between posts. I’m finally feeling back to my normal self (aside from my ever growing midsection and the light kicks taking place within) after a four month hangover caused by the she-spawn in my belly. Yes, that’s right. The Brinckos are having a baby girl this summer! Pretty exciting stuff, eh?

In any case, I’ve been holding onto a bunch of work that’s ripe to post including these shots from my final family session of 2011. It’s amazing how much toddlers can get done in such a short time. While I was over, Jack built several block skyscrapers with his Dad, which he gleefully destroyed, played a game of living room football, jumped on the bed (kids seem to know they can break the rules when I’m around), read a couple books, ran around outside, had a snack and swept the kitchen afterwards. Whew! It was such a blast to witness and photograph the whirlwind. I left with a huge smile on my face that comes back each time I see these pictures.

West Seattle Winter Wedding: Kelly & Brian Sneak Peek

Winter weddings are officially my new favorite. It was blustery out, churning the Puget Sound into the most beautiful shade of jade on Kelly & Brian’s big day. So much warmth surrounded these two that the fact it was frigid out was more exciting than anything else. (Note: I’m trying so hard not to be the geeky photographer and gush about how perfect the light out was. Thank you clouds and sun peeking out from behind them!) Not to mention, Holy Rosary (ceremony) and The Sanctuary (reception) were the perfect places to cozy up indoors with family and friends. Cheers to a wonderful day and the amazing couple that made it so!

I think it was Hannibal from the A-Team who said many times, “I love it when a plan comes together.” I have to say, I almost love it more when a plan doesn’t come together.

Before the snow started dumping, I was supposed to make the trek up up to North Seattle for Mark and Diane’s maternity shoot. After sliding on the icy streets in my neighborhood just coming back from breakfast with a friend, I decided I just wasn’t brave enough to make the drive. Luckily, Mark, boyscout extraordinaire, was! He piled the family in his 4WD, picked me up in W Seattle, and safely drove us to several spots nearby including Lincoln Park and a couple beaches. Thanks to things not going according to plan and their bravery, we were able to grab some amazing shots in a winter wonderland.

A few weeks later, I was able to make the trek up north to meet their new addition, Zach, who is cute as can be and a such a warm presence. Welcome to the world, new friend!

Wandering the Northwest: Limited Edition Prints to Benefit Ameriface

I haven’t had spare time for much lately, especially for posting images from my personal collection/travels and helping out my favorite non-profit, Ameriface. So, I thought I’d do a little of both today!

Below are a few of my favorite film shots from this year. They are available as limited edition 8×8 prints for $85 each (See Paypal link at bottom of page to order). Proceeds benefit Ameriface.

Collectors are guaranteed premium, archival prints signed by the artist (me). Prints are exclusive and limited. No more than 25 will ever be sold.

Sinclair Storm

We arrived on Sinclair island in this storm, thankful to have a warm cabin to take shelter in. No other boats were seen on the water that day and we only ran into one other person all weekend. It was awesome!

I have a thing for shoes hangn’ on wires. So, this was pretty much like striking gold for me. I waited for the perfect sunset (to literally turn the shoes gold) and dodged semi trucks to get this shot.

Goodbye Viaduct

On October 22 the public was allowed to walk along the Seattle Viaduct for the last time before it was demolished. It was pouring rain, but that didn’t stop thousands of visitors, including my Mom and I, from taking a stroll along the beloved roadway.

Between my two jobs, I spend a lot of time sitting – as I’m sure many of you do. I carry a camera with me always and it is the best motivation to get out and go for a walk. This day, I had my Holga and was feeling the need to connect with the ocean. Luckily, living in Seattle means it is only ever a few short blocks away.

I saw this Ghostbusters-like storm looming over Seattle and rushed to my fav spot to point my lens at the city, Don Armeni Park along Harbor Ave in West Seattle. The Puget Sound was surprisingly calm, unafraid of what was headed its way.

Found wandering around the Rose Garden at Myrtle Edwards Park in Seattle on a drizzly, late Fall day. The last blooms of the season are just so beautiful against an increasingly barren almost-Winter landscape.

Portraits of Violet: The Complete First and Second Seasons

You know how it feels when a season of your favorite show has ended and you have to wait in anticipation for the next season to start so you can find out what happens next? It’s torture and exciting all at the same time. That’s how it is photographing families for me.

I photographed Violet last February when she was just 3 months old (see blog post). When her mom, Dana, scheduled another set of family photographs this Fall I could hardly wait to see what had happened with the fam over the past 9 months! Violet not only had grown several inches, but a cute tuft of red hair and two bottom teeth. She’s also starting to develop quite a sense of humor and adventure. Check out the shot of her behind the wheel at the end. Hilarious!

I can’t wait to see what happens in Season 3!

Sneak Peek of a Sneak Peek: Adam + Shannon

I’m just putting the final polishes on Adam and Shannon’s amazing wedding at the Agricultural & Industrial Museum in York, Pennsylvania and couldn’t resist posting this sneak peek – of a sneak peek. I love that Shannon could not resist taking a peek at her man while she thought no one else was looking. Moments like this just warm my lil’ ol’ heart!

Maternity/Baby Portraits: A flash and a bump in the woods

With a new baby on the way and an almost-two-year-old growing and learning new things every day, my friend, Teresa (“Tre” to me), decided it was a good time to hit pause and capture a key moment in her personal history.

After doing some photographs of/with the oh-so-cute Kyra (it probably won’t come as a surprise, but this lil’ lady has done some modeling for Nordstroms), Tre let me drag her into the woods (how’s that for trust??) of West Seattle for some maternity portraits.

Always a bit wary of using flash, I experimented with it a little and absolutely loved the rich colors, moodiness and light-rimmed silhouettes produced. What a cool way to capture Tre’s beautiful profile!
